Living Room Make over phase 1
We finally started the living room make-over. I posted what we plan to do here. My husband is such a catch! He is not only doing the work but he's doing it to my standards. This means lots of extra details like patching walls where cable jacks and phone jacks existed. Not to mention it will have 20 framed out boxes with interior cove molding when it's finished. The fireplace and built-ins make over is next. I chose this mantel which I'm super excited about.
It is seriously embarrassing how dirty these walls are! |
So Long 1980's intercom system! |
There is a long way to go but we are getting there one step at a time.
The kids have been staying busy with their own projects. It's been raining daily here so they have made a rain protected home for the ducklings and chicks. There is no way the roof is coming off that little house! We are however going to need to go buy more nails. I have a front porch filled with these little houses and other creations that only little boys could think up.

Natural Living
Over the past year we have been slowly learning to homestead and have been growing our mini farm every chance we get. We have a long way to go but everyday is a new learning experience and everyday we grow closer to a life of mostly natural living.
We started planting our fall gardens this weekend and although we just put a small dent in the overall plan, it feels good to get seeds in the ground and know that food will come soon. We also added a few new members to our family.
We picked up a playhouse from a friend that will become a home to some bantams in the near future. I haven't decided which breed yet but I want some type of bantams to free range in what will be our largest fenced garden. I'm choosing bantams for their size. A small group free ranging in a relatively large garden will provide great fertilizer and bug control without causing any significant damage to plants. Just think how great this will look with a new paint job and some chicken wire decor.
The thing I have learned most on this journey is that God provides an easy way to make it all happen. It's all a ministry and reminder of how grand and gracious our creator is. When we do things naturally and through prayer our bounty is grand and our days are filled with peace and pleasure.

Galatians 5:1 For freedom Christ has set us free. Stand firm, therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery.
