Final Adoption Hearing

Last Wednesday in my husband's office a judge over the phone declared that if he signed the piece of paper in front of him that Madeline would be ours forever.  His words!  He actually asked us if that is what we wanted!  Did we want for her to be ours forever.  Of course!!!  It was a bit silly to tell you the truth.  She has been ours since the day she was born.  I still cried a little however.

Great memory, bad photo.  She was a little sick that day.

I haven't posted on our adoption experience and I'm not sure if I ever will but feel free to ask me questions if you ever have them.  Just to give you a little information.  When my husband and I decided that we wanted a 3rd child he said he really wanted to help someone and adopt.  I prayed about it and God put it heavy on my heart!  I had lost my mom 5 years prior and really wanted that mother daughter relationship again.  She was also adopted so I was raised knowing what a blessing it was.  9 months later Madeline was born.  It has been the best experience of our lives!

I also wanted to quickly share that you can nurse your adopted baby!  I had 2 doctors tell me it wasn't possible but I followed the Newman-Goldfarb Protocols for Induced Lactation and it's worked great.  I actually didn't even follow the time line and it still worked.  I took birth control for 15 days then started pumping.  Madeline was born 10 days after that and I was already making a little milk.  It went up in supply for about the first month and has stayed steady since.  I don't make a full supply so I have to supplement but I make enough that we get to have that special bonding time together.  I have a friend who has never lactated before and she as had the same success.

Any adoption stories out there?
